Wine Deals in Columbus for Every Day of the Week
A few years ago, “wine tasting” to me would mean a fancy night in an expensive restaurant with a plethora of cheeses on a wooden board. Sure, there are plenty of spots in Columbus where you can go out and make this happen—who doesn’t enjoy a good charcuterie every once in awhile? (The Wine Bistro, I’m looking at you!!) But if most of you are like me, the majority of my nights out of the house are spent ballin’ on a budget. Thankfully, cbus has us wallet-conscious winos covered. So covered, in fact, there’s at least one (and sometimes more!!) wine deals going on in the city every single night. I’ve put together a quick round-up for you all—enjoy!
Columbus Wine Deals for Every Day of the Week
Monday: Due Amici 1/2 priced wine bottles
Tues: BJ’s Brewhouse 1/2 priced wine
Wed: 5 for $5 at Camelot Cellars
Thurs: Last Thursday of the month at Wine on High
Fri: Wine Tastings at Whole Foods, Giant Eagle
Saturday: The Hills Market 10 for $10 first Saturday of the Month
Sunday: 20% off bottles at Spagio
Monday: Due Amici ½ priced wine bottles
Whether your job schedule means Monday Funday on the reg or you’re just really needing a glass, err, bottle.. to cap off a rough start to the week, Due Amici has you covered! The convenient location is a quick walk after work for downtowners, and half priced bottles can’t be beat, especially because they will let you take home whatever you don’t finish. Stopping by with a few friends? The Spinach Artichoke Dip is a must, trust me!
Tuesday: BJ’s Brewhouse ½ priced wine
For those of you a little farther from downtown, any of the three Columbus BJ’s locations (Dublin, Polaris, or Easton) are in on the ½ priced wine deal too! All glasses AND bottles are half off on Tuesdays. And the best part? It’s all day long—no need to rush to beat happy hour times. Did I mention that Tuesdays are also $3 Pizookie’s? There’s no way you can say no to that.. see you there next Tuesday!
PS: If Tuesday’s aren’t your night, BJ’s has some bangin’ deals on other nights of the week:
Mondays – Half off pizzas and $5 Margarita’s
Wednesdays – $10 loaded burgers (and unlimited fries) and $4 Craft Beers
Thursdays – $13.95 ½ Rack OR $18.95 Full Rack Baby Back Pork Ribs (includes a house salad, 2 sides, and a mini pizookie)
Wednesday: 5 for $5 “Wine Down Wednesday” at Camelot Cellars
What’s better than a mid-week wine tasting? Nothing—especially when it only costs you five bucks! Although the deal only lasts from 4-6pm, you’d better get there fast because this place fills up fast. Camelot Cellars is tucked away in Olde Towne East (across from one of my favorite breakfast nooks, The Angry Baker!). The quaint wine cellar also serves shareable small plates and cheese boards for those looking for a snack with their sip!
Thursday: Wine on High 20 for $20 (last Thursday of every month)
I’ll warn you now, the Wine on High 20 for $20 wine tasting is not for the weak. Laugh if you want, but I’m not kidding! I consider this wine tasting the biggest bang for your buck, but there’s a few musts that done before you attend:
- Buy your tickets ahead of time! Most of the time, they sell out a few days before the actual event. Click here for tickets to the wine tasting on August 31st!
- If you’re looking for a little more, WOH recently began a “VIP” 20 for 20, which takes place the last Wednesday of every month. Although technically one would call this a 20 for $30, the VIP night includes a little more. In addition to a sneak peak on the 20 wine tastings that will be served on Thursday, attendees for this special tasting will receive a special Wine on High glass and discount card for their sister restaurant Hubbard Grille. It’s a deal if you ask me!
- Oh, and the third thing. EAT DINNER BEFOREHAND. The event takes place 6pm-9pm, so you have plenty of time to grab a quick bite to eat before slugging down 20 (very generous) wine pours. You’ll thank me the next morning at work!
Friday: 5 for $5 Wine Tastings at Whole Foods and 6 for $8 at Giant Eagle
A few years ago, I would have NEVER imagined my Friday night plans included getting turnt at a grocery store.. or that I’d ENJOY it. But let me tell you, if you haven’t hopped over to a Whole Foods or a Giant Eagle (or both) on a Friday night, you’re missing out!!
Starting at 5pm, just five bucks will get you a Whole Foods wine glass to keep, and a trip around the grocery store for five pours of various wines as well as food samples to pair. If you remember to bring your wine glass back to a WF to use on your next wine tasting, it will only cost ya $4! I love being able to mosey my way around the store while sipping on the selected wines (yep, great marketing strategy—I end up finding something that catches my eye and take it home for dinner!)
Next up, Giant Eagle! Although their wine tasting doesn’t have you trekking all around their store, the event will typically be held out on their beautiful patio (3rd Ave location) during the summertime, accompanied by live music and a few food samples as well. Giant Eagle runs their tasting with a ticket system—you receive 6 tickets for wine and 2 tickets for food samples and you can use them how you please! I’ve enjoyed quite a few Friday nights on the Giant Eagle patio.
Saturday: The Hills Market Worthington 10 for $10 Wine Tastings
Yes, wine deals even on the weekend! On the first Saturday of the month, The Hills Market at Worthington allows you to trade your tickets for tastings from a selection of 25 wines. The event lasts from 6pm-9pm, which allows you plenty of time to wander around the store learning about your wine samples from the knowledgeable (and super friendly!) staff. The best part? The store always has a table of self-serve food set up for tasting as well. When I attended a few months ago, there was a pretty hefty spread of build-your-own-nachos bar—much needed after tasting #5!
Wine tastings aren’t the only thing happenin’, check here for the calendar of events at The Hills Worthington location.
Sunday: 20% off wine bottles at Spagio
Sunday Funday, please! Spagio’s wine lounge in Grandview boasts a bangin’ wine and dinner deal every Sunday night. After 4pm, you can get 20% off any wine bottle as well as an oven-roasted half chicken with chive herb mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables for just $10.95. If you haven’t been to their newly renovated wine lounge, it’s a must! The relaxing atmosphere and vast selection of vino will almost make your forget that the weekend is over.
That’s it for the week-long round up of wine deals in the Columbus area! If you have a favorite that I missed above, let me know at cravecolumbus@gmail.com or on my Instagram @crave_columbus. I love seeing your pictures!
