A Day Trip to Dublin: A Few of my Old (and New!) Favorite Stops
Nine times out of ten, if you hear me saying I’m taking a trip to Dublin (trip meaning 20 minute drive..lol) that means there’s a stop at Trader Joe’s involved. I live in Grandview and let me TELL you how sad it makes me that we don’t have a TJ’s closer to downtown other than Dublin or Easton. What gives, Trader Joe’s?? When I need $3.99 wine or a cauliflower pizza crust I need it now! Honestly it’s probably for the best, I’d consider TJ’s the grocery store equivalent of Target. I walk in needing three things and leave with nine.
But like.. those nine things.
They’re really cool things. And I needed them.
So it’s justifiable. (in my mind)
My trips to Dublin are usually on errand-packed Sunday afternoons, when I want to run into a few quick places, get what I need and move on with my day. But errands make me so hungry. Last weekend I was making my usual errand stops in Dublin and knew that I wanted to try something new to the area, not too pricey, and wouldn’t take two hours of my day.
Enter: MOD Pizza!
MOD Pizza is the perfect quick (and affordable!) lunch that’s easy on my waistline. I loved that their pre-designed pizzas already show the calorie count, so I can make a healthy decision (if I’m feeling like it). They also have the option to make a salad and toss it on a cooked pizza dough crust. How cool is that?? MOD’s pizza crust is thin enough to have a crispy bite, but doesn’t have that “cracker” taste that some thin crusts often develop in a stone oven. Not a thin crust fan? MOD has a (brand-new) answer for that. Order their “Mega Dough” for an extra two bucks and they’ll give you a thiccc crust for your pizza base. Gluten free? Again—two bucks and you can have a pizza sans-wheat/grain/gluten.
Although I usually get creative and make my own pizza, the last time around I tried the “Caspian” and ooooohmg. I’m not usually a chicken-on-pizza kind of girl, but I’m forever changed. That BBQ drizzle put me over the edge! Did I mention their pizzas allow you to create your own? $7.87 for an 11” pizza topped with whatever you want, with however much you want. Love.
[Left to Right are the “Phoenix”, “Caspian” and the “Dominic”]
I was making a quick pizza pick-up the day I was running errands, but I’m totally planning on coming back for a dinner soon. Why? MOD Dublin keeps it local by offering CBC or Four String Brewing on tap, with a special on Tuesdays for $2 drafts all night long. Hello happy hour!
Trader Joe’s + MOD To-Go = My new Sunday afternoon fave.
What are your favorite stops in Dublin? I’d love to know—let me know in the comments!
