Date Night: Mitchell’s Ocean Club
A week ago today was one of the first nights in a loooong time that I didn’t feel one ounce of the “Sunday Scaries.” Why’s that? Mitchell’s Ocean Club invited me in to help them celebrate their 20th anniversary of serving up some of Columbus’ best seafood and steaks at Easton Town Mall. What better way to avoid the Sunday scaries than eating WAY too much high quality food and cocktails?
Speaking of cocktails.. while wanting to try something new, my husband and I both stuck to the style of cocktails we know and love. He went for a straightforward Single Barrel Sazerac (which turned out to be more dazzling than we expected – I just LOVE the “20” ice cube to celebrate their 20th anniversary!).
I wanted something a little more flashy (lol hello I’m the food blogger in this relationship) and I got the “Berries and Bubbles”. The drink came out smokin’- literally! The dry ice floated in a mix of Belvedere Citrus, Crème De Casis, House Made Sour, and Domaine Carneros Brut, giving the effect of smoking pouring out of the cocktail. So fun!
Can you believe that they’ve served over 30,000 of this cocktail at THIS location in the twenty years they’ve been open?? Here’s more fun facts about the Mitchell’s flagship location:
Go big or go home when it comes to birthdays, right? Since Mitchell’s Ocean Club was turning twenty, we took that motto to heart and ordered something we’ve never had a restaurant before. The Smoking Seafood Tower! We both love seafood and knew that Ocean Club wouldn’t let us down (you’ve sometimes gotta be a little skeptical when it comes to fresh seafood when you’re in Ohio, after all) and they sure didn’t. You can customize the tower to your preferences, so we got the East Coast Oysters, Chilled Maine Lobster Tail, Shrimp Cocktail, and Chilled Crab Meat Cocktail. We both agreed that this was hands down our favorite part of the meal. Everything was fresh, the portions were huge, and that dipping sauce (I forget what it was!!) was to DIE for. We just might have to make this a tradition! Several pics to follow because.. well.. one just won’t do it justice.
I was feelin’ pretty full after the cocktails and seafood tower (wish I could say that sentence more often) so I stuck to a sushi roll for my entree. After hearing the great things about the sushi rolls that are served at Mitchell’s Ocean Club, I didn’t want to pass up on the opportunity to try one! I got the Dynamite Roll, which is also on happy hour for just $10. Aka there is NO EXCUSE for you to come try it too!!
He got the Lamb Chops: Two Double Cut Chops, English Peas, Mushrooms, and Caramelized Onions. I had a few bites and certainly didn’t hate it 🙂
I totally recommend one of Cameron’s top restaurants as either your next special occasion date night (order the Seafood Tower!!) OR regular date night. No need to empty to empty the bank if you want to go out on the Town (get it? Easton Town Center.. lol) and enjoy a meal in a high-class atmosphere. Their happy hour prices and sushi rolls are all reasonably priced – Monday through Friday from 4:00-6:30pm you can get any of their sushi rolls for just $10, and they have a nice collection of cocktails at $7. That includes the Dynamite Roll I tried last week!
Thank you, Mitchell’s Ocean Club for sponsoring this post and allowing us to celebrate with you your 20th anniversary. Congratulations and keep the good food comin’!
